How come the audio forecast ("WTIC Weather" above) differs from the 5-Day Forecast on this site? For example, the screen above says that Sunday June 15 will be "mostly cloudy." The audio forecast says "mostly sunny" for Sunday. Can't they agree?

I meant, Boston Red SOX, not socks. Their competitor talk station has a game on the air too, but at least they interrupt programming with the EAS system to bring the public the warnings. The warnings are issued to save lives and WTIC needs to carry them.

Severe thunderstorm warnings are in effect for Hartford county with winds at Bradley gusting to 70 MPH and all I hear on WTIC is a Boston Red Socks game with no severe weather updates. What a disgrace.

It is sad that in the short time you people are allowed on the computer each day you see fit to waste it complaining. Go to noaa, go someplace please and as soonas you can.You are turning sunny days dark and I dont need a Meterologist to explain it.

I still miss the old weather format for this site that had detailed forecasts...you can't find that anywhere for CT. Plus it allows the meterologists to explain all the different factors that help understand why their forecast may or may not change without notice...bring back the old format, this one is useless!!

they have been bad all year. hear we go again. on tv they are calling for a chance of snow next monday. how can they predict that far out when they cant get the weather right today

Is it me or do these weather guys get worse worse and worse with each passing storm. They haven't got one forecast right all winter! I understand its not an exact science but at least come close and admit when your wrong!

I see alot of anger toward the weather men, especially Joe Furry. For starters, weather is not an exact science, and we are in New England where the weather can change on the drop of a hat. I forget how many weather regions there are in Ct, but I know there are a lot for such a small state. What I like about Joe is he always goes into great depth to explain the weather and when they are wrong, he explains why. keep up the good work and thank you.

why is it that joe furey always seems to "over-forecast" the weather and call for much more intense weather than actually occurs.....

Is Joe Furey often at odds with the other WTIC meteorologists. He seems to call for more intense storms, higher winds, and greater snowfall totals than the others.

if the* falls in CT it will be in North CT, 4" in Central and I would say a change over at the coast, the Northwest trend as we get closer to the onset of a storm is unmistake able this year, especially with no blocking in place.

I have not been keeping weather records over the years, except in my mind. I do recall few record lows and many, many record highs. Almost every year has been above normal this century. Does anyone doubt the existance of global warming, either human madeor by natural events?

So where is all the snow? Nothing but cold wet icy rain in the foothills.

8-10 inches of snow shouldn't cause the mess it did. Perhaps we need to consult with cities like Buffalo where they get a lot more at a clip than a few inches. My wife sat in her car on rte 84 from 1PM to 9PM with absolutely nothing moving.

I drove from Glastonbury to Colchester on Rt. 2 at noon, and everyone was going at just under 20mph. I didn't see one single plow the whole time and there were a least a dozen cars on the side of the road. The hills were particularly challenging. LEAVE LOTS of space between cars. Don't go out if you don't have to.

I drove from one side of Bristol to the other at 11:30 for a sandwich. It tokk 1 1/2 hours and I didn't know if I was going to get back home.

Please bring back the old weather format. I'll go to Intellicast.com if I want a much better looking radar map than this. The reason I loved this website before was the comprehensive forecast updates. These new format needs to go ASAP or you'll loseviewers.

I'm working in an office where I can't get the podcast and wondering if "some flurries" means a slippery ride home or nothing to worry about at all. I can click on the latest Doppler radar for Alaska but detailed information about what's going on here isn't available? Please give us more detailed forecasts we can access without the fancy bells and whistles!

Wow...it is incredible what a step backwards this new format is. While the doppler is great, please bring back the comprehensive weather reports of the old format...I depended on WTIC for my weather and now I might as well go to the weather channel for equally as useless information. Please bring back the old format!!!!

try weather.yahoo.com (or just weather.com). It's the WeatherChannel site and is by far the most accurate for western CT/easter NY.

To calculate degree days take the high and low temperature for the day and divide by two. If the result is less than 65, then heating degree days = 65-(day's average temp). If the result is higher than 65, then cooling degree days - (day's average temp)-65. Degree days are used to calculate heating and cooling demand. The higher the number of degree days, the higher your energy bill. 65 is used as a base since it is generally considered that you don't need to turn on the heat or A/C when the dailt average is 65. -BC
